Wakrat Releases Their Sober Addiction Video

Rage Against the Machine‘s Tim Commerford teamed up with Laurent Grangeon and Mathias Wakrat back in 2015 to create the pissed off, alt-punk-influenced Wakrat, and their debut album finally hit stores last year via Earache Records. As Tim Commerford previously told Rolling Stone, “This is the kind of music that I grew up on and always wanted to do. It’s the same feeling as 1991 when Rage Against the Machine first started playing. It felt uncomfortable and doesn’t feel right, and I love that feeling. I haven’t played in a band that’s this uptempo and punk and furious, but this is me.

Today Wakrat has shared their new video for ‘Sober Addiction’ online, and it’s fucking awesome. Not only do you get to see the band killing it on stage, but you also get to see Tim Commerford dressed up in a middle finger costume, and going after everything he despises about America. From Starbucks, to police stations, to voting booths, banks, and religious establishments, Tim visits them all, and none of this is scripted.

Here’s what Tim said on the clip: “The current system is oppressive and elitist, promoting racist ideologies in order to push a self-serving agenda whilst an entire generation is put jeopardy. We condemn this behavior and Republic Of Wakrat exists to expose it.
