Katatonia is a band that continues to blow my mind with each and every release. They said that their latest album, The Fall of Hearts, pushed their musical boundaries further than ever, and the end result is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful records of 2016. Today the band has unveiled the beautiful new video for ‘Shifts,’ which is off the new record, to help promote their upcoming European tour. Here’s what Anders Nyström said on the clip: “Ahead of our upcoming European tour we are proud to reveal a new music video for ‘Shifts’, directed by Lasse Hoile. As the music for this song unfolded it took off in a different direction from usually what we do. Driven by its gentle, lush and shimmering rendition of melancholy it would take you for a waltz daydreaming of the past, longing for the happiest times of your life, only to find that when the dance is over, emptiness has filled another chamber of your heart. Both Jonas and Lasse enhanced these ideas into beautifully told lyrics and a simple, but very touching video.”
Enjoy ‘Shifts‘ below, and for you lucky people across the pond, do whatever it takes to see Katatonia live in your town. You can thank me later.
