Speaking about the track, the band comment: ““Flesh Eternal” digs beneath the idea of romantic love and explores the body horror that emerges when yearning is taken to its extreme. It’s a sardonic take on ‘together forever,’ where that notion becomes literal, with unsettling consequences. Musically, it reflects everything Tyrannus is about — aggression, atmosphere, and drawing from unexpected influences.”
They continue: “This track leans heavily into post-punk, focusing on the relationship between bass and drums, with guitars and vocals gradually building intensity. That intimacy eventually fractures into full-blown black metal fury — that tension between the familiar and the disturbing is at the heart of both this song and Mournhold as a whole.”

Emerging from the UK metal underground in 2018, Tyrannus established their identity through an attack of death-thrashing black metal on their debut album Unslayable, an approach that now finds sharper focus and refinement on Mournhold.
A sophomore effort that builds on the foundations of their earlier work while pushing into something more deliberate and uncompromising, Mournhold expands the Tyrannus sound. Drawing from 80s thrash, atmospheric black metal, and elements of post-punk, the album moves across a broader sonic landscape while maintaining a clear and unified direction. The result is an album that is ambitious yet focused, aggressive yet atmospheric, and precise, standing as the clearest representation of Tyrannus’ artistic vision to date.
Produced, recorded, and mixed by Scott McLean at Neon Fable Studios in Edinburgh between January and June 2025, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, Mournhold further establishes Tyrannus as a distinctive voice in the modern extreme metal underground, balancing aggression and atmosphere with precision and intent.
