Apple, who recently purchased Beats Music for $3 billion, is reportedly using resources from that acquisition to help design its own music streaming service to rival digital music services such as Spotify. Trent Reznor, who was a Chief Creative Officer for Beats Music, is now said to be “playing a major role” in helping Apple come up with a streaming music service of their own, and also planning an enhanced iTunes Radio that may be targeting listeners in regional markets, according to sources familiar with the product. Those sources have indicated that the Beats Music name will likely be shelved in favor of the new service and no free option will be offered.
