German, blackened, melodic death metallers, Thulcandra (Napalm Records), have been officially announced as the Saturday headliners for this year’s Hordes X festival, in Dundee, Scotland. Melted Messiah, The Machinist, Bloodshot, Acidsaurus Bong, and Mutalith also join the bill, which already features The Infernal Sea, Ante-Inferno, Solar Sons, Brainbath, and more. The 14th edition of Hordes X runs September 26th – 29th, at Beat Generator Live and Roots Music Venue, with weekend tickets now on sale. Find out more below.

The band say “We are proud to announce our return to the UK in 2024! With selected dates in London, Manchester and Dundee we deliver a selection of compositions taken from our newest album, Hail The Abyss, and handpicked songs of all five records. Tickets are strictly limited and on sale now!”
Thulcandra features ex-members of Nailed To Obscurity and Secrets of the Moon, and is fronted by Steffen Kummerer, known for his work in Obscura, as well as playing live with Cynic. Last year they unleashed their fifth album, Hail The Abyss. Hordes X – Scotland’s longest running heavy music event – will be the band’s only Scottish appearance on their 2024 UK run, which also makes stops in London and Manchester.
Along with existing partners and sponsors (Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey and Very Metal Art) Hordes X 2024 will be working with Imperative PR, video startup Obsidian Gate, Kevvymetal Promotions, plus mental health charities Angus Voice and Heavy Metal Therapy.

Run by Slow Dragon Music as an all-dayer since 2010, Hordes X has dominated the last Saturday of every September North of the border, bringing the best in the underground together with bands such as Hellripper, Man Must Die, Saor, and Acid Reign. Now, it has broken loose, opening up to four days, over two venues, and three stages.
The event has played an important part in the early stages of many heavy music acts, platforming the likes of Party Cannon, Dog Tired, King Witch, De Profundis, Krysthla, and more. It has carved a name as highlight of the Scottish metal calendar, and the place to discover the best new and emerging bands. 2024 sees the fest stretch to new heights, and is set to be something truly special.
