Singer, Songwriter and the essence of The Sheila Divine, Aaron Perrino, says of the album, “I’ve been making albums for quite a long time and I’ve always relied on others to bring the sounds in my head to life. Over Covid lockdown I started to learn production and this is the first record where I was able to record a large portion of the songs myself. It’s the closest i’ve gotten to capturing all my influences and themes in one record.”
Known for their signature blend of raw power and melodic grace, The Sheila Divine delves deep into dark themes across this latest record, which is available on all major streaming platforms starting Halloween. The new album is a dark and daring exploration of human emotion, pushing the boundaries of the band’s unique sound. Anchored by standout singles “Lillydale,” “Satan Got My Soul,” and “I Know There Is Happiness,” I Am The Darkness, We Are The Light also introduces the band’s brand-new single “The Rapture.” Each track on the album builds on The Sheila Divine’s reputation for honest lyricism and powerful instrumentation, creating a complex yet captivating sonic experience that captures the spirit of both shadow and light.
I Am The Darkness, We Are The Light marks a pivotal moment for The Sheila Divine, blending the band’s established post-punk roots with an even more layered, introspective sound. Fans of the band and newcomers alike can look forward to an immersive listening experience that is as haunting as it is healing, all delivered by a band that has consistently redefined indie rock. Tune in on Halloween, in honor of Perrino’s recent move to Salem, MA, to experience an album that is both haunting and hopeful, capturing the essence of a band that has made a career of honest, unforgettable music.
