The Ratchets have a long history of deftly-selected covers. Whether plucking a hidden gem from underground obscurity or paying homage to a beloved classic, the band always manages to put their own stamp on the song while remaining just reverent enough to retain the elements that make the song great. Each song is added to their repertoire with exquisite taste and expert playing.
When The Ratchets take on “Policy of Truth,” they inject a raw, gritty humanity into a bonafide synthpop chart topper, stripping it down to reverb-drenched guitar leads, a loping bassline, and a locked-in rhythm to create a menacing, atmospheric soundscape that would be equally at home in a spaghetti western showdown as on a goth club dancefloor. The vocal delivery – restrained but purposeful – adds to a timeless effect that will excite new listeners & fans of the original alike.
“Policy of Truth” is the latest in The Ratchets’ ongoing singles campaign, and their first release of 2025. The prolific rockers’ singles campaign has previously seen the release of “Holy Mother of God,” “Late Stage Capital,” “News On High,” “Hurricane Condition,” “Swagger With Kindness,” and “Street Manners.”
