The Oxys are intent on wrangling fans out of their world weary despondency with their newest offering. “This is the most insidious of our three albums,” says guitarist and songwriter Ginchy. “It’s a raw and unflinching exploration of the human experience, delving into themes of obsessive love, the psychology of killers, the power of reinvention, and a critical view of today’s complacent society. Listeners will find themselves on a visceral journey through life’s struggles, the grip of addiction, and the will to survive.”
Frontman Phil Davis adds, “Writing lyrics for this record allowed me to delve into complex themes like compulsion, toxic relationships, and an intense, almost cinematic killer vibe — highlighted by the haunting true crime story of my Great Uncle Joe Ball, also known as the Butcher of Elmendorf. The universal tension between human acts that harm, and yet stimulate us, is something I wanted to explore. My aim was to capture raw emotion and make it resonate powerfully with listeners.”
The label says “At Cleopatra, we gravitate toward artists who challenge the norm, and The Oxys do that in spades. This album is loud, unapologetic, and absolutely vital. We’re honored to be part of it.”

The Oxys began back in 2021 when Ginchy (Dead Boys, Sylvain Sylvain and the Sylvains) and frontman Phil Davis managed to smash the monotony of pandemic life by channeling their collective energy into music and creativity. By December of 2022, they put out their first full length record, A Date With The Oxys (Dead Beat Records). Following much critical acclaim for their debut, they delivered Generation Irrelevant just 12-months later, again garnishing favorable worldwide press. With rhythm guitarist Genocide, bassist Michael Harpel and newest addition drummer Logan Flaherty, the band is ready to hit the road in 2025.
