The next Bandcamp Friday is this, October 6th, 2023! On every Bandcamp Friday the company forgoes its usual cut of every sale and donates that back to the band. Please support underground artists, indie labels, and merch sellers on that day, today, and every day! Bandcamp was sold by Epic Games to Songtradr last week, and staff has unionized in 2023, but have met with resistance. The remaining Bandcamp Fridays in 2023 will occur on November 3rd, and December 1st. As always, https://www.isitbandcampfriday.com has the details. Bandcamp Fridays have accounted for $188 million dollars from sales in 2023, and the company has paid artists over $1 Billion dollars since its inception.
If you can’t make a purchase, you can always support bands by sharing this post and asking bands to post their links!
So, we’re going to keep a good thing going in 2023, and will hold the next Bandcamp Friday on February 3rd. We’ll share dates for the rest of the year soon. Thank you, and happy holidays!
On the first Friday of the month since March of 2020, we’ve waived our revenue share to help support the many artists who have seen their livelihoods disrupted by the pandemic. Over the course of 17 days, fans paid artists and labels more than $78 million dollars, helping cover rents, mortgages, groceries, medications, and much more. If you’re among the nearly 800,000 fans who participated, thank you.
If you’ve started to feel guilty about buying music on any day other than Bandcamp Friday, here’s something to keep in mind: on Bandcamp Fridays, an average of 93% of your money reaches the artist/label (after payment processor fees). When you make a purchase on any other day of the month (as 2.5 million of you have since March, buying an additional $190 million worth of music and merch) an average of 82% reaches the artist/label. Every day is a good day to directly support artists on Bandcamp!
All from midnight to midnight Pacific time. For time zone demystification, check out: http://isitbandcampfriday.com/
