The Last Martyr Shares a New Single and Video – “Sugar”

Emerging Australian Metalcore band The Last Martyr has released a new single and music video “Sugar!” The single follows the band who just finished a string of dates opening for Black Veil Brides. The slamming new track is streaming on all DSPs, and deals with the topic of anti-depressants according to the band. Watch the video now!

The band has commented on the track and video:

Sickly sweet and manically heavy, “Sugar”, the bands heaviest track to date. The track bounces back and fourth between extreme highs and lows musically, as well as emotionally.

Sugar explores the impact of anti-depressants in narrowing our ability to feel extreme ranges of emotion, both negative and positive alike.

Lyrics

Sugarcoat my heart
Sugarcoat my heart
Heart
Too bad I’ve got a conscience
They said I’ve got to reign it in
Pass the rope that’s a wild one
Play my game before the colours fade
I’ll take the blame ’til apathy
Forever, forever stays (I think it’s time to)

Sugarcoat my heart, heart
Sugarcoat my heart, heart
No happiness, no sadness for me
Breaking down is an art, art
Sugarcoat my heart, heart
I’m dead inside but I’m doing pretty great
Oh, sugarcoat my heart

I could tell you what I want
But the only confidant I trust
Is a drug that gives me confidence
In a world that just keeps sneaking up on me
Can’t be silent, I can’t speak
I’m guilty because I am weak
They say that history repeats
Just give me back my dopamine
The unheard and the unseen
Sweetness like a zombie to comfort me Sugarcoat my heart, heart

Sugarcoat my heart, heart
No happiness, no sadness for me
Breaking down is an art, art
Sugarcoat my heart, heart
I’m dead inside but I’m doing pretty great
Things may not be what they seem
No happiness, no sadness for me
Sweet apathy, a daydream
I’m dead inside but I’m doing pretty great

I could tell you what I want
But the only confidant I trust
Is a drug that gives me confidence
In a world that just keeps sneaking up on me
Too bad I’ve got a conscience
They said I’ve got to reign it in
Pass the rope that’s a wild one

Sugarcoat my heart, heart
Sugarcoat my heart, wow
No happiness, no sadness for me
Breaking down is an art, art
Sugarcoat my heart, heart
I’m dead inside but I’m doing pretty great
Things may not be what they seem
No happiness, no sadness for me
Sweet apathy, a daydream
I’m dead inside but I’m doing pretty great
