Marc Maron’s “WTF Podcast” has shared a new interview with System of a Down’s Serj Tankian to discuss the new documentary “Truth To Power.” The film highlights Tankian’s life in political activism and music. On the podcast, Serj discussed his life story, how he got into music, how SOAD formed, how the band reunited in 2020, an interesting story of a run-in with late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, and the film.
Truth To Power, the documentary about the social justice movement started by System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian will make its world premiere at Cannes Virtual Market this week. The film is Executive Produced by Oscar® Nominee Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost Trilogy, Somekind of Monster, Metallica Through The Never) and Live Nation Productions, the film offers exclusive access to the man behind the music, award-winning director/writer/producer Garin Hovannisian (“I Am Not Alone”) captures both intimate and historic public moments, including Serj’s role in inspiring the massive peaceful protests of 2018’s Velvet Revolution in his native Armenia which successfully ousted an oligarchic regime.
