The title track from System of a Down’s 2001 album Toxicity (American Recordings, Columbia Records) has surpassed 1 Billion Streams on Spotify. This is their second track to surpass a billion on that platform, following “Chop Suey!” The band did not really make note of the milestone until bassist Shavo Odadjian shared a post in gratitude of SOAD fans on social media. This feat is more impressive as the band has only done light touring in recent years, most recently playing Sick New World Festival twice, and a sold-out co-headline show in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with Deftones. Serj Tankian (new solo EP) and Odadjian (Seven Hours After Violet) have new music out now and the future of System of A Down remains murky.
