Following up on a story from 2023, the music industry was one of the most devastated due to COVID-19 pandemic took hold, the U.S government signed into law The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant. It was for payroll, and operations capitol for venues and bands. It was meant to keep artists afloat during the lockdowns. Touring did not really resume full-time until 2021. The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant and the Paycheck Protection Program – these federal loan programs were created in 2020 to help businesses, and self-employed workers, impacted by the COVID-19 etc. during the lockdown.Continue reading →

ALBUM REVIEW: Helmet – Left

Helmet are a legacy band, who at over 30 years into their career– albeit with an early 2000’s hiatus– are still very much thought of as a specific, early mid-nineties era band when alternative rock was king. And for good reason, as they are a band who certainly had a huge influence with early Interscope Records such as Meantime (1992) and Betty (1994), providing a sludgy down-tuned version of the more commercial alternative styles of the time.

Joining the bill are Bad Omens, Blacktop Mojo, Giovannie & The Hired Guns, Whitechapel, Mike’s Dead, Stitched Up Heart, The Word Alive, Saul, Lacey Sturm, Crobot, Superbloom, Redlight King, Devil’s Cut, Extinction A.D., The Dose, Moon Tooth, Cold Kingdom, and Crooked Teeth. The festival previously announced their 2022 headliners of Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters, Kiss, and Korn during the 2021 event. Riot Fest 2021 Adds Patti Smith, Alkaline Trio, The Flaming Lips and More

Riot Fest has made the final weekend additions to the 2021 event, kicking off September 19th, 2021, which will be the fest’s first-ever Thursday Preview Party. Patti Smith and Her Band and Alkaline Trio will join Thursday night, with additional sets from Joyce Manor (performing their self-titled 2011 debut), WDRL, and Kristeen Young. As for Sunday, The Flaming Lips will return to Riot Fest on Sunday, bringing the fest-favorites back to Douglass Park on September 19 to replace Pixies. Sunday attendees will also get into the Thursday Preview Party for free, with a host of freshly-announced perks included. Tickets are on sale now at the link below.
