The 2025 Sick New World fest was to have featured Metallica and Linkin Park, but not SOAD and was cancelled due to “unforseen circumstances.”Continue reading

System of A Down Teases a Return of Sick New World in 2026

Sick New World has begun teasing a return in 2026, with visuals appearing at System of a Down’s recent stadium shows in New Jersey, Chicago, and Toronto! Coincidentally, all of the second headliners for the SOAD shows (Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones) have either co-headlined SNW, have ties to it. Read our review of the first SNW here. In terms of potential 2026 headliners, SOAD, and 2025’s co-headliner of the canceled fest, Metallica, could both do the festival on a similar weekend to past festivals ahead of their summer 2026 tour dates in Europe. We’ll continue to track this story as it develops.

ALBUM  REVIEW: The Barbarians of California – And Now I’m Just Gnashing My Teeth

The sound of what was once considered West Coast Hard Core is changing.  The Barbarians of California‘s new album And Now I’m Just Gnashing My Teeth (oneRPM) carries more of a metallic stomp aligned with modern Hardcore. Right from the first song you can hear the band’s more experimental edge. Once into the meat of the album, they bridge hardcore with a Nu-Metal sound, which is not unlike what System of a Down does. They attack with a more spastic jerk. It’s hard not to appreciate the sense of adventure that runs through these songs. The new generation of nu-metal kids who attend festivals like Sick New World will dig it. Hardcore purists might have some questions. Continue reading
