The San Francisco Giants baseball team held their 8th Annual “Metallica” Night” in which the band participates in the game with a performance and themed merch. Metallica has been a Bay Area band since the addition of Cliff Burton, and the band’s relocation to Northern California in 1982. They later added Kirk Hammett. For the seventh year in a row, Metallica has had a relationship with the San Francisco Giants for an annual Metallica night. Last night was Metallica Night 2019 as the band participated in the festivities before the Giants took on the New York Yankees. James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed the US National Anthem, while drummer Lars Ulrich tossed out the ceremonial first pitch. Then the band raffled off a guitar signed by the entire band. Joey Belladonna of Anthrax showed up at the Chicago Cubs gave versus the San Francisco Giants this weekend at Wrigley Field in Chicago to sing the National Anthem.
