Chris Cornell, High On Fire, Greta Van Fleet and More Win Grammy Awards


Although no rock or metal acts play a part in the televised event, the 61st Grammy Awards was held last evening in Los Angeles, California and some awards were given out to our chosen favorite music genres. Five of these awards were given off the air, as rock music is apparently not fit for the air. Chris Cornell won a posthumous award for Best Rock Performance for the song ‘When Bad Does Good’, High on Fire won Best Metal Performance for the song ‘Electric Messiah’, Greta Van Fleet won for Best Rock album for their EP From The Fires, and Best Alternative Music Album: St. Vincent for Masseduction. In a major upset, St.Vincent and her co-writers won Best Rock song for the ‘Masseducation’ track, over obviously better choices from Ghost and Greta Van Fleet. GVF also lost in the Best new artist category to Dua Lipa. In the main pop awards televised Childish Gambino, Kacey Musgraves and Cardi B took home other major awards. Metallica is back on tour and performing their usual career-spanning set. The band started playing their Soundgarden covers they played I Am The Highway, Chris Cornell Tribute Concert. ‘All Your Lies’ originally appeared on Ultramega OK (SST) in 1988. Metallica is on tour again for this leg of dates through February 1st.

Watch Metallica Cover Soundgarden’s “Head Injury” Live On Tour


Metallica resumed their Worldwired World Tour last night in Oklahoma City! Playing their usual career-spanning set, the band tossed in a surprise for fans. They played their covered of Soundgarden’s ‘Head Injury’, first played a few days earlier at the I Am The Highway, Chris Cornell Tribute Concert. ‘Head Injury’ originally appeared on Ultramega OK (SST) in 1988 and is said to be a favorite of James Hetfield. Metallica is on tour again for this leg of dates through February 1st.

Chris Cornell Official Biography Coming In 2020


Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of The Dog, and award-winning solo artist will have a biography published in 2020, by author and Rolling Stone and Billboard writer Corbin Reiff. Reiff made the announcement via Twitter. So far Reiff mentioned in his tweets that he has interviewed legendary Seattle producer Jack Endino, and Seattle music critic Dawn Anderson, the first person to ever review the band’s music back in 1986. Cornell, who committed suicide in 2017 at age 52, leaving in a devastating loss in the music world, so any details about his life from an official source would shed some light on his life and be a balm to his legions of fans. Chris Cornell Statue Unveiling Ceremony Announced In Seattle


Soundgarden has gone down as one of the most important bands to ever come out of Seattle, Washington. Chris Cornell’s 2017 death devastated the music world and spawned countless tributes cementing his legacy. Now a statue erected in Cornell’s memory has its unveiling date, on October 7th. “Chris Cornell: An Everlasting Tribute to Seattle’s Son” will be unveiled by Chris’ wife Vicky Cornell and the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP). Following the unveiling, footage of Soundgarden’s performance at The Wiltern, captured by the Artist Den, will be screened inside MoPOP’s Sky Church. More details can be found below. Alice In Chains was the day one headline act of Rock On The Range last night in Columbus OH. As part of their set, they played two Soundgarden deep cuts in tribute to Chris Cornell. Yesterday (5/18) was the one-year anniversary of the music legend who was a peer and friend to AIC in the early days of the Seattle music scene in the 1990s.
