Musician, artist, and activist Otep Shamaya, the namesake of the band OTEP took to social media this week to call out video game company Ubisoft for stealing the song “Smash The Control Machine” (from the 2009 album of the same name) as heard in FarCry 5 release originally in 2018. The singer questioned the gaming giant why they thought it was cool to take her song and incorporate it into the game without compensation. The rabid and loyal fans of the band have also taken to calling out Ubisoft, tagging their social handles, and asking for answers, so far to no avail. Otep herself has worked as a voice artist on many films and video games notably The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, and The Last of Us.
