Ponte Del Diavolo’s sophomore album De Venom Natura (Season of Mist) finds the band continuing to perfect what they did on this album, kicking in the door with blast beats before bringing a shadowy vision of post-Punk snakes its way around the verse. They explode back into a more snarled chorus, showing how singer Erba excels at blending vocal tones. One of their strengths is that they do not mix the two genres in an expected, formulaic way; instead, they blend in a very organic manner. The second song, “Lunga vita alla necrosi,” features manic post-Punk vocals over tense, tremolo-picked guitars. One of the album’s MVPs is certainly the drummer, Segale Cornuta, who refuses to just default back to blast beats to convince you they are into Black Metal; it keeps a punk vibe. Continue reading →
