As we previously reported, Devin Townsend will host his “A Very Devy Christmas” Live Stream special on December 23rd, and now finally has a Christmas song to share, to get you into the spirit of the season. Listen to Devy’s lovely rendition of the classic religious carol, “Silent Night.” Devy plans to record and release more holiday tracks from the sound of it! Today is The Next to Last “Bandcamp Friday” for 2020


As previously announced, Bandcamp will continue to waive fees for bands one Friday, every month, for the remainder of 2020. The relief dates have paid out millions of dollars to bands while taking no fees, encouraging fans to spend more on the platform that day, as bands seek relief from the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic crisis. Today, November 6th, 2020 is this month’s Bandcamp Friday! The additional relief days do not include artist subscription payments or vinyl pressing campaign pledges. Industrial Metal act Author & Punisher has surprise-released a live album “Live 2020 B.C.” Album. The album was created while the band was direct support for Tool on the Fear Inoculum tour, for which the band was direct support for three months, before the pandemic. Korn Shares Cover of Charlie Daniels “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” ft. Yelawolf


Korn has shared a cover of The Charlie Daniels Band classic “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” Yelawolf exclusively via Bandcamp today at the link below.  All proceeds from the track will be donated to  Awakening Youth,  a nonprofit organization devoted to young people faced with the loss of a parent due to divorce, addiction, death, being surrendered for adoption, or other reasons. Daniels passed away earlier this month at age 83 after suffering a stroke.  Recorded during the sessions for the critically acclaimed chart-topping epic The Nothing (Roadrunner), the track honors the late Daniels.

HUM Releases New Album “Inlet”, First New Release in 23 years 


Seminal alternative rock/post-hardcore outfit Hum have released a new album, Inlet, their first since 1998’s Downward Is Heavenward on Bandcamp, streaming in its entirety.  The new album was enginered by Hum members Matt Talbott and Tim Lash along with James Treichler. Released via Talbot’s own Earth Analog Records, the album is available via various digital platforms with vinyl due out late this summer.

Bandcamp Will Donate 100% of Their Share of Sales Today to Support Racial Justice, Equality, and Change


In a story we continue to follow and support here at Ghost Cult, Bandcamp is donation 100% of their share of proceeds of any purchases on their platform today, Juneteenth the observance of the end of slavery in the United States. From midnight to midnight PDT, and every Juneteenth hereafter, for any purchase you make on Bandcamp, they will donate 100% of their share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a national organization that has a long history of effectively enacting racial justice and change through litigation, advocacy, and public education. We’re also allocating an additional $30,000 per year to partner with organizations that fight for racial justice and create opportunities for people of color. This was sparked by the recent killings of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Sean Reed, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the ongoing state-sanctioned violence against black people here and abroad. 41 Bands Will Donate Their Bandcamp Sales on June 5th to The National Bail Fund Network


A large group of underground heavy music and punk bands have united in solidarity to donate money earned from sales on Bandcamp’s June 5th “free day” (when Bandcamp will not take their cut of sales from bands) to the memory of George Floyd, murdered by a police officer on May 25 in Minneapolis, MN. Forty-one bands will donate their proceeds to the National Bail Fund Network. The group  organizes to end all forms of detention, criminalization, and surveillance. The charity uses community bail funds as organizing tools to free people and push to abolish detention.
