“Master of Puppets” Becomes Metallica’s Third Song to Surpass 1 Billion Streams on Spotify


Metallica surpasses another milestone in their storied career! “Master of Puppets” the title track from their Thrash Metal masterpiece album of the same name, has become the band’s third song to surpass 1 Billion streams on Spotify, following “Enter Sandman” (1.65B)  and Nothing Else Matters” (1.34B) in the Spotify Billions Club playlist. This was reported by industry expert Ryan J. Downey’s Substack Stream and Destroy and Official Chart Data service. According to Downey, Metallica brought its catalog to Spotify on December 06, 2012 The song got a second life in the last few years with it featuring in the popular Netflix show Stranger Things, which caused it to go viral and mint a new generation of Metallica fans.Continue reading


System Of A Down’s Classic Single “Toxicity” Passes 1 Billion Streams on Spotify 


The title track from System of a Down’s 2001 album Toxicity (American Recordings, Columbia Records) has surpassed 1 Billion Streams on Spotify. This is their second track to surpass a billion on that platform, following “Chop Suey!” The band did not really make note of the milestone until bassist Shavo Odadjian shared a post in gratitude of SOAD fans on social media. This feat is more impressive as the band has only done light touring in recent years, most recently playing Sick New World Festival twice, and a sold-out co-headline show in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with Deftones. Serj Tankian (new solo EP) and Odadjian (Seven Hours After Violet) have new music out now and the future of System of A Down remains murky.

Metallica’s Hit Song “Enter Sandman” Surpasses 1 Billion Streams on Spotify


Metallica, the biggest band in Rock and Metal History, has joined the vaunted and rare 1 Billion club for their single “Enter Sandman” – their international hit song from their 1991 album Metallica, a.k.a. “The Black Album.” This follows the recent announcement that the band surpassed 1.6 Billion streams in 2022.
