Neo-psychedelic dream pop outfit, Spaceface, – fronted by Jake Ingalls (ex-The Flaming Lips) and Eric Martin – have just dropped their third LP, Lunar Manor, via Mothland records. “Eric wrote “Beach Within Reach” with his girlfriend on the drive from Memphis, TN moving to Los Angeles, CA,” the band explains. “Legend has it, there was a man-made lake in Olive Branch, MI, called Maywood, that they shipped a bunch of sand to. Folks in Memphis call it the Beach Within Reach. This song is an ode to one’s mind palace. Your own mental “beach within reach.”
Since forming in 2012, Spaceface has evolved into a dynamic four-piece with the addition of Marina Aguerre (Teal Pop) on bass and Garet Powell (Double Wish) on drums. Over the past decade, the psych-pop outfit has released a self-titled EP and two full-length albums — Sun Kids (2017) and Anemoia (Mothland, 2022) — alongside a kaleidoscopic collection of singles and remixes. Collaborators include Julianna Barwick, Julien Baker, Phantogram, Okey Dokey, Mikaela Davis, Moon King, and Pearl & the Oysters.
“Lunar Manor is a collection of songs written over many years,” the band shares. “There are love songs, party songs, existential tunes — all shuffled together. These are sincere attempts to make you and us feel good amidst the ever-shifting chaos of the world.”

Spaceface are a neo-psychedelic dream pop band based in Los Angeles, CA. Having been eavesdropping on the Universe whispering its chaotic will since 2012, the groovy bunch harness the transcendent pulse of the spacetime continuum into catchy songs that whirl and twirl, bend and stretch, attract and propel. Their unique alloy of psychedelic pop, funk-rock and post-disco, charged by the Sun, ultimately shines way past our collective bedtime, akin to a glow-in-the-dark Slime Science Lab kit. The project’s founding members include singer-songwriters Jake Ingalls (formerly of The Flaming Lips) and Eric Martin, who are now joined live by Marina Aguerre (Teal Pop) on bass and Garet Powell (Double Wish) on drums. The outfit is currently gearing up for the release of their long-awaited third long-player: Lunar Manor.
Since forming, Spaceface have offered timely releases that include a self-titled EP, two full-length albums – Sun Kids (2017) and Anemoia (Mothland, 2022) – as well as a small zoo of singles and remixes featuring notable collaborations with artists such as Okey Dokey, Julianna Barwick, Mikaela Davis, Julien Baker, Penny Pitchlynn (Broncho), Phantogram, Brothers Griiin, Moon King, Pearl & the Oysters, and Matt Duckworth Kirksey (The Flaming Lips). The dreamy rockers followed up with Jamais Vu (Our Songs, Not By Us), a remix compilation released in 2023, before unleashing “Bittersweet Symphony” (Mothland, 2024), a synth-heavy cover from Britpop band The Verve, also to be featured on their forthcoming full-length.
Over the course of 12 years, Spaceface have toured the United States and Canada, adding a few dates in the United Kingdom, with stops at international festivals such as SXSW, Desert Daze, Treefort Music Fest, Hangout Fest, M for Montreal, and FME. Always equipped with a state-of-the-art light show and/or projections, sometimes accompanied by weirdish stage props and/or gadgets, their ever-evolving live concert provides their dedicated following with thrill-inducing D.I.Y. performances that only get crazier as they perfect their experimental craft. In doing so, the collective has shared the stage with many international artists including their dear friends The Flaming Lips, as well as Gary Wilson, White Denim, Death Valley Girls, Cumgirl8, Broncho, Sugar Candy Mountain, LSD and the Search for God, Lumerians, Fleece, Reptilians, and L’Éclair, while also visiting just about every cool underground venue North America has to offer.
After unearthing forgotten songs from yesteryears, and months spent recording bits and pieces at different locations (Jake’s apartment, The Cube, Honeymoon Suite Studio, Sonic Ranch, Nowhere Studios), while also archiving ideas with their cellphone microphones or tweaking serendipitously chaotic laptop sessions, Spaceface turned to producer and multi-instrumentalist, Taylor Johnson at Lunar Manor as well as fellow LA based southern transplant, Dent May, finally immortalizing their third opus. This collection of beautiful musical oddities, ranging from moody indie ballads to modern disco anthems is scheduled for release on August 22nd, 2025 via Montréal boutique imprint Mothland.
