Sons of Alpha Centauri return with their upcoming fourth studio album entitled Pull, the follow-up to 2021’s alternative metal album Push. The cult emo icon Jonah Matranga (from post-hardcore legends Far and Gratitude) joins the band once again on vocals. The album is coming 28th of March via Exile On Mainstream. Pre-orders are live at the link below.
Pull is a natural evolution to Push, delivering a powerhouse of searing post hardcore, alternative metal and progressive hazy rock. Across the album, Sons of Alpha Centauri capture both a renaissance of the 90s post hardcore of their Sacramento luminaries, and a contemporary take on atmospheric dream-like rock music.
The band is once again joined by drummer Mitch Wheeler – the percussive powerhouse and backbone of Will Haven and founding member of Ghostride and The Abominable Iron Sloth – who, together with guitarist Marlon King and bassist Nick Hannon, deliver a formidable foundation for Matranga’s inimitable overlay.
Having previously collaborated with Godflesh, Karma To Burn, Yawning Man, and members of Kyuss, ISIS, and Queens Of The Stone Age, Sons of Alpha Centauri offers an album that captures the essence of Around The Fur-era Deftones, the simplicity of Water And Solutions-era Far, and the integrity of Will Haven’s Carpe Diem. The hypnotic and harmonic pulse of the music and the soaring introspective power of Jonah’s wrought, raw vocals provide an ever-emotional journey that sees new peaks in performance for all involved.
Founding member and bass player Nick Hannon comments: “We didn’t know if Push was going to be a one off but everyone involved loved what we did and thought we could collectively drive the sound even further… so Pull is an even more intense and emotionally direct performance from all of us. When Jonah returned to the studio, he came with an ignited fire of intensity. Whereas Push focused on distress, distance and separation, Pull is more cerebral and dream like. We’ve worked to create songs that everyone can engage with but with themes that are distant and eclectic. Immerse yourself!”
