Last year Matt Pike revealed that he is planning on releasing new High On Fire and Sleep records in 2017, and it looks like one of those albums is being recorded right now.
Sleep has checked in from the studio three times over the past few months, and each new update is more entertaining than the last. See below.
This was the first update:
Here’s the second from last week:

And here’s the latest update from Weedian.com:
Yes, that is morse code, but thanks to MetalSucks, we have the translation for you: “INITIALIZE NEW TRANSMISSION 2017 CE SLEEP NEARING COMPLETION OF NEW ALBUM ENGINEERING ACCOMPLICE: NOAH LANDIS LOCATION: 37.8044 N, 122.2711 W RELEASE DATE: UNDETERMINED RECORD LABEL: UNDETERMINED.”
From what I’ve gathered, this update means that they are almost done, and Noah Landis of Neurosis is somehow involved in the production. Of course this could be all be a trick, because LOOK AT ALL THAT WEED, but if it’s not, this will be Sleep‘s first full length album in 17 years. Their last new song came back in 2014, and if ‘The Clarity’ is any indication of what we can expect from the new stuff, I couldn’t be more excited!
