The Last Frontier is Sins of Shadows’ third full-length and their most direct and heaviest record to date, featuring vocalist Tasos Lazaris and reflecting the band’s evolution toward a sharper, more urgent sound without sacrificing the melodic sensibility that defines them. Drawing on the energy of the NWOBHM Iron Maiden and Saxon the ambition of progressive and power metal in the vein of Symphony X and Iced Earth, and the heaviness of Megadeth and Testament, the band weaves twin-guitar harmonies that echo Thin Lizzy throughout. All music and lyrics are written by Nicolas Jacon, with mixing and mastering by Sebastien Normand at Aedonia Productions and artwork by Aleh.

Sins of Shadows began as a duo, releasing two EPs, Sins of Shadows (2014) and Today’s the Day (2016), before bassist Sebastien Normand of Esquys and ex-Nepenthys joined in 2018, leading to their debut full-length, The Master’s Way. Drummer Rodolphe Plachesi joined soon after for the second album, Imperium, a conceptual and introspective record drawing from the philosophical writings of Spinoza and Frédéric Lordon, featuring Eric Casteglia as guest vocalist. Subsequent singles saw the band collaborate with Henning Basse of Metalium and ex-Firewind, further expanding their reach.

The Last Frontier is the band’s most fully realized statement yet, self-produced and independent, out May 5.
