Singer Songwrtier David Crosby (The Byrds, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) Has Died


Hall of Fame singer-songwriter-guitarist David Crosby, a founding member of hugely influential 1960s bands, The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash/Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young), has died. He was 81 years old. News of his death has been shared by a statement from his wife to Variety.com. Twice inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, Crosby spend 50-plus years shaping Folk, Rock, and Pop music with his voice and guitar playing. Although he had some struggles with sobriety and legal issues with drugs from the 1970s-1990s and discussed a retirement from performing, he had been making new music the last few years and might have at least one full album recorded for release at the time of his death. RIP.  

 

His wife released a statement to Variety, writing, “It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched. We will miss him dearly. At this time, we respectfully and kindly ask for privacy as we grieve and try to deal with our profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers.”
