Legendary Rock music and cruise ShipRocked has canceled their 2021 Cruise due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Carnival Cruise Line announced that it would be delaying dry docks for three ships, including Carnival Magic, which had its cruises scrapped up to and including the embarkation on September 24, 2021. All three ships were scheduled to undergo refurbishments early in 2021 before returning to service. The voyage sells out every year and the 2020 Cruise was headlined by Halestorm and Alter Bridge. ShipRocked will return in 2022, hopefully.
ShipRocked creator and producer Alan Koenig of ASK4 Entertainment has issued a statement saying: “Greetings ShipRocked Family, I bring you some disappointing news regarding ShipRocked in 2021. I learned this morning that Carnival is no longer able to operate our sailing on the Magic in May. And unfortunately, there is no alternative sailing available to us for the remainder of 2021. So, the next ShipRocked cruise will set sail in early 2022.
“We will be sharing all of the details on SR22 with you next week, including complete information on what you need to do if you’d like to roll your current reservation over to 2022, which will include a pretty sweet incentive to stay on board!
“Also, stand by for the lineup! We have been working hard to finalize that for you as well, and will be announcing who will be rocking hard and vacationing harder with you in 2022 as #SOON as possible!
“Just like you, we are VERY ready to rock and roll, and can’t wait to finally see you all again in 2022!”
ShipRocked 2021 was supposed to depart Miami, Florida for five days of music and adventure, including ShipRocked’s first-ever visit to the Dominican Republic – at Amber Cove just outside of Puerto Plata. ShipRocked 2021 was also slated to include a return to the private island of Half Moon Cay in The Bahamas, an idyllic sun-drenched paradise with turquoise seas, where guests can attend an epic ShipRocked beach party.
In 2020, ShipRocked had its biggest year to date, with 3,300 guests in attendance — including 62% returning ShipRockers.
