“like heR” is for everyone who’s struggled to feel enough. It’s for anyone who has had their joy stolen by the comparison gremlin,” the band explain. “We spend so much time looking into an abyss of endless comparison that gives us infinite options for identity. It’s gotten to the point where a lot of us don’t know who we are. The monoculture is over, which means we are now being sold back to ourselves. We just wanted to let people know that they’re not alone.”
With their signature blend of abrasive punk energy and irresistible, house-party chaos, Shelf Lives channel frustration into catharsis. On the face of it, their music is catchy and raucous—sweaty, unfiltered and loud enough to rattle the walls. But beneath the surface lies a relentless push to experiment, challenge, and force listeners to feel—whether they want to or not. Shelf Lives aren’t here to fit in—they’re here to blow the whole thing up.

Shelf Lives are the “self-proclaimed” inventors of electro-bass punk (a genre that definitely doesn’t exist—but somehow makes perfect sense when you hear them). After years of creating, releasing, and caring-ish what people think, the band now operate with zero hesitation and total authenticity. The mission is simple: if you’re listening, you’re going to feel something.
Though still a relatively new name, Shelf Lives have already stormed stages at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Kendal Calling, TGE, SXSW, New Colossus, 2000 Trees, Y Not and headlined the Rising Stage at Green Man. They’ve supported heavyweights including Skunk Anansie, Lambrini Girls, Sprints, Panic Shack, Jehnny Beth, The Kills, Lynks, and more, while also sharing magazine covers with Bob Vylan and HO99O9, and receiving support across BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, and BBC 6 Music.
After closing 2024 with their sold-out MOTH Club headline and the release of their fiery second EP No Idea, Shelf Lives are back, burning brighter than ever. The band were also recently awarded the PRS Foundation’s highly competitive PPL Momentum funding — a huge achievement given the sheer number of incredible musicians vying for it, making their selection a true testament to their talent and vision. With “like heR”, the duo step boldly into the next phase of their unpredictable journey—and they’re not looking back.
