American folk artist Shannon Jae Ridout has shared a new single, “It Ain’t Right,” the latest preview of her upcoming LP Two Busted Boots and a Broken Heart, out June 12 on Anti-Corp Music. Stream it now and check the tour dates below.

After more than a decade away from performing and recording, Shannon Jae Ridout returns with Two Busted Boots and a Broken Heart, a collection of songs written while traveling the United States between 2012 and 2015. Raw, at times chilling vocals carry themes of love, loss, longing, grief, addiction, and mental health struggles through ten anthems of lush folk music with a tinge of dark country. Somber and heartbroken on the surface, the album shines with an inner beauty and a hopeful longing for better days ahead.

On “It Ain’t Right,” Ridout recalls: “It was wintertime in 2013. My dog and I were down by the raging river here in Washington, where my husband grew up. It was one of those songs that poured out once I started. It was the first one I wrote where the harmonica finally clicked. I’d tried to learn off and on while hitchhiking throughout the years and didn’t get it ’til that day.”

The album was recorded and mixed in January 2021 by Justin Dye at Third Coast Studios in New Orleans, Louisiana, then mastered and sequenced by Dan Emery at Black Matter Mastering in Nashville, Tennessee. Artwork was handled by Bobby Ditrani.

Ridout has shared the stage with Jason Dea West, Willi Carlisle, Mat Davidson of Twain Band, The Ditrani Brothers, The Pink Stones, Pine and Fire, and many others. She returns to the stage this spring with a run of Northwest dates alongside labelmates Jason Dea West and the Siskiyou Crest, capped by a record release show in Seattle on June 18.
