The Progressive Death Metal band, Rivers of Nihil recently introduced their savage new track off their fifth full-length self-titled album by way of Metal Blade Records on May 30th 2025. Pre-order the album now at the links below. Stream “American Death” now!

Guitarist Brody Uttley explained how the band had come to the conclusion regarding the title of the of this true to form heavy single. 

“American Death is a title that we’ve been throwing around and printing on t-shirts since 2013. We figured it was finally time to write a song with that title, and given the subject matter of the lyrics, it would only make sense for this song to be a true ass beater.”

“And when he plunge my chest with his knife/I’ll look that dirty bastard dead in his eye/And say I had a fucking beautiful life.”

 

Rivers of Nihil showcases skilled musicians including Patrick Corona (alto saxophone), Stephen Lopez (banjo), McFarland (cello), and a myriad of guest vocalists. On this new record, they wanted to ensure the tracks hit hard. Despite the fact they took a fresh approach to how they create their sound; the album is still able to fit into the band’s discography. 

 

The band is currently headlining the Aggressive Progressive EU/UK tour. They have confirmed plans to return to North America. Upon their return, they will embark on an additional tour where they will once again dominate the stage. Their plan is to transcend the expectations of all who experience their cacophony of newly produced music.
