Fest founder Anthony Chalmers has released a statement.
“Unfortunately, I have taken the decision that this year will be the last ever Raw Power. I am really excited for this year’s festival and I am incredibly proud of the 8 wonderful years that we have had however the festival just isn’t sustainable in
its current form. Baba Yaga’s Hut presents between 80-100 gigs a year and we need to focus on these shows first and foremost. We may well return with another type of multiple day festival event in the future but for now it’s time to take a break.
I want to thank Adrian for encouraging me to do Raw Power in the first place and for all the support over the years. I also want to thank Grace for running the show in a way that meant I could just enjoy my weekend for many years in a row and to all the other staff members at Raw Power, The Dome & The Boston Arms. Huge thanks must also go to all the artists that have ever performed – we’ve had some very special times together. And finally, I want to thank YOU. All the regulars that have come year after year, hung out, partied, moshed and supported both us and the scene – we have loads of great memories. See you all for a last blow out in a couple of weeks.
Cheers, Anthony Chalmers”
Bio:
Raw Power has earned an international reputation as a righteous psychic celebration of sound and fury – a weekend whose inspirational intensity is as potent as its tinnitus-risking aural abandon. Boasting an annual handpicked selection of innovators, mavericks and maniacs from the wildest, heaviest and most intimidating frontiers of alternative and experimental music, from the legendary to the freshly formed, the last half-decade has seen global iconoclastic forces from Faust to Melt-Banana, from Circle to The Ex, and from Godflesh to Gallon Drunk unite to radiate revelation in abundance.
