Independent, Columbus, Ohio based Punkerton Records is celebrating its 4 year anniversary after returning to action in 2020. Driven by a mission to support diverse and innovative artists across genres like punk rock, ska, folk-punk, and even alt-country, it was founded by Brandon Alan Lewis, a dedicated husband, father, U.S. Army Infantry Combat veteran, and alumnus of The Ohio State University. With its roots in Northeast Texas in 2002, Brandon began Punkerton Records while in high school as a platform for local artists and a host of charitable benefit concerts. After a hiatus, Brandon relaunched the label in 2020, bringing it back with a broader mission and renewed passion. The rebirth of Punkerton Records came during a deeply personal time for Brandon. The loss of his father to suicide just weeks before the pandemic inspired him to channel his energy into fostering creativity and building a vibrant community of musicians. Since its reemergence, the label has been a haven for emerging and established artists alike, offering production, event organization, and distribution services tailored to the needs of DIY and indie talent. Over the last four years, Punkerton Records has expanded its artist roster to include names like Rookie of the Year, Tony & Gravel, The Boy Detective, Middle-Out, Bad Year, and Knives, representing a blend of raw talent and seasoned expertise.
The label’s projects span from supporting fresh singles and full-length albums to organizing shows & national tours. Since its first release in Dec. 2020, Punkerton Records has built an impressive catalog, including:

The label’s upcoming releases include Rookie of the Year’s highly anticipated album, WTF, on CD and vinyl January 17, 2025, as well as the much-talked-about Rock Against Trump compilation, a bold statement aligning music and activism. Set to drop on Inauguration Day 2025, fittingly, this politically charged compilation will be their 45th release (PR-045) adding to its significance. This project underscores the label’s commitment to social advocacy and free expression.
Punkerton Records has also made significant strides in distribution, securing a deal that ensures the majority of its catalog is physically available worldwide. This achievement highlights the label’s dedication to reaching fans on a global scale while maintaining its grassroots, artist-first ethos. From vinyl to CDs, the label’s physical releases can now be found in record stores across the globe. Punkerton Records goes beyond just music. As Punkerton Records celebrates its fourth anniversary, this fast-rising Columbus, OH- based punk indie label will celebrate its 4 year anniversary with a show at Columbus’ Spacebar on November 30. Label founder Brandon Alan Lewis says, “The countdown is on! Our 4-Year Anniversary Show is almost here! Join us on November 30 at Spacebar for an unforgettable night hosted by our good buddy Huge Euge. The lineup is stacked with incredible talent: yard sign will kick things off with 3 fun kazoo-and-ukulele songs to warm up the crowd. Then, we’ve got Richmond’s steelboy, Milwaukee’s Bad Year, and Danny Attack from Knivesfl. Next, Detroit’s Middle-Out will bring the energy, and Columbus’s own Cursed Rosie will close out the night!
