After successfully releasing his powerful Modern Hard Rock solo debut “Freedom’s Door” via Dr. Music Records at the beginning of April, New York musician Peter Wilson follows up with the fourth single release “Mirror” and a visually stunning lyric video. The song tells the story of someone at a crucial crossroads in their lives. Realizing that they’ve become someone they no longer recognize, who’s sacrificed all of their morals and principles to succeed and gain monetary wealth at the expense of others. Unfortunately, this person is left unfulfilled and hollow, wondering if they can ever find themselves again. This feeling of self-doubt and awareness of one’s failures is clearly palpable through Peter Wilson’s heart-rending vocals. However, the song also conveys hope and personal growth, making it a successful conclusion to the “Freedom’s Door” album cycle, reflecting the emotional ups and downs of its making and Peter Wilson’s life experience. On “Freedom’s Door”, Peter Wilson welcomes his listeners with his unique, energetic Progressive Power Rock and convinces them with his dynamic vocal range, a distinct sensibility for catchy melodies, and compelling lyrics. These are inspired by an eventful time in which the vocalist lost both his parents and became a son’s father. Moreover, while writing and composing the songs, the musician was also influenced by the madness of the pandemic in combination with all the political tensions in the USA and around the rest of the world. For himself, it was a time to dig down deep and bare his soul without fear or regret. Peter Wilson relied on talented musicians from the NYC area to flesh out older material and write new songs. “Freedom’s Door”, like the Four Trips Ahead album before it, was produced by Nik Chinboukas (i.a. Metal Allegiance, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Alex Skolnick Trio), mixed by Grammy and Emmy Award-winning engineer Nick Cipriano (i.a. Dream Theater, Twisted Sister, Erasure), and refined by legendary mastering engineer Roger Lian (i.a. Rush, Muse, Slayer, Pantera, Coheed And Cambria). The striking cover artwork for the album and the four singles were created in collaboration with Thomas Ewerhard, known for his artwork for bands such as Avantasia, Spock’s Beard, and Sons Of Apollo. Peter Wilson’s new American Rock album impresses with its striking vocals, powerful guitar riffs and tight groove paired with authentic real-life stories protesting against social injustice with raised fists. With his three previous singles, Peter Wilson has embarked on a musical journey that is not just about breaking the psychological chains of contemporary society with “Release”, but also about dealing with his experiences of anger, frustration, and racism in the USA with the autobiographical single for the title track “Freedom’s Door”, and breaking free from mental shackles and remorse at a young age with “Sunshine”. These singles have sparked conversations among fans of the band Four Trips Ahead and impressively showcased Peter Wilson’s artistic vision’s broad thematic range and emotional depth. With “Mirror”, the musician continues on this intense path. For the lyric video, he once again collaborated with renowned videographer Wayne Joyner (i. a. Dream Theater, Alter Bridge, Creed), who masterfully conveys the introspective mood of the song visually and turns its message into powerful images.
