Perry Bamonte, Longtime Multi-Instrumentalist of The Cure Has Died

The Cure has announced that their long-serving guitarist and keyboard player, Perry Bamonte, has passed away after a long illness. He was 65. The band announced the news in a statement on their website and on Robert Smith’s social media, which you can read below. Bamonte initially joined The Cure in the mid-eighties as a guitar tech and personal assistant to Smith, before ascending first as a touring guitarist, and later keyboadist and bassist from 1990-2020, returning in 2022, completing almost 500 shows, including their last studio album, Songs From a Lost World. He performed on such classic albums as Wish (1992) Paris (1993) Show (1993), Wild Mood Swings, and more. He also played bass in Rock supergroup Love Amongst Ruins. RIP.
