Nightwish and vocalist Floor Jansen have parted ways after fourteen years together, announcing the split in a joint statement. The band says Nightwish will continue, while Jansen turns her full attention to her solo career. Read both statements below.
Nightwish said: “After careful consideration, we have, in mutual agreement, decided to part ways. This decision is necessary and important to us and our future ambitions… We wish each other nothing but the very best on our respective artistic journeys.” The band called the split the end of a truly great voyage, and tied the moment to their thirtieth anniversary.
Jansen added: “Endings create new beginnings, and even though it was a hard decision to make, I believe there is a bright musical journey ahead of me… My solo career will now get all of my attention.”
Unlike the turbulent exits of Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon, this one closes on good terms. Jansen first stepped in with Nightwish on October 1, 2012, in Seattle after Olzon‘s departure, and officially joined in 2013. She went on to front Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015), Human. :II: Nature. (2020), and Yesterwynde (2024), along with the live releases Showtime, Storytime, Vehicle of Spirit, and Decades: Live in Buenos Aires.
Nightwish plans to return to the studio in 2027 to work on their eleventh album. The band has not toured since announcing in April 2023 that they would step away from live shows for the foreseeable future, and they have not named a new vocalist.
Jansen releases Hytress, her second solo album, in January 2027 via REVAMP Music and Warner Music, following her 2023 solo debut Paragon, which has racked up nearly 150 million streams. A German tour follows in early 2027, with album and ticket bundles available through Eventim.
