Tayne is a London based Experimental, Noise, Pop outfit by Matthew Sutton. Tayne’s music is an aural assault that weld moody, atmospheric vocals, punishing guitars and overwhelming electronics, to pulsating rhythms that create an intense listening. Debut album Breathe (Strange Brew) is out now.

“So, I’m pretty sure anyone that listens to my music would make the assumption that I’ve listened to a song or two of Nine Inch Nails. If you have made that assumption then you assumed correctly, I have.
Throw me back to 2013 in my final year of college when Trent and his wife Mariqueen were at the height of their How To Destroy Angels project. They had just announced their album Welcome Oblivion (Columbia) with only a handful of live concerts in the USA, stating that the live production they had planned was so massive and technical that they couldn’t possibly do a big run on the tour or take it overseas.
Naturally being a big fan I was determined to get tickets. Being a broke-ass college student at the time made it difficult but it comes with its ups and downs, the ups where I got a maintenance grant to get me through college monthly and pay my bills.
But of course when HTDA announced tiny venues for the tour I knew I had to go, so I blew all my money on tickets and flights to NYC and ate dry toast for months and begged anyone and everyone to help me pay my rent.

The gig was stupidly exceptional, the stage set up and production was flawless and the songs were unbelievably good live. Everything about the gig was more than I could have expected it to be, a masterclass in OCD production of what a show focusing on visual aesthetic should look like.
I remember them playing their track ‘Parasite’ and freaking out as it’s definitely one of my favourite tracks.
This summer just gone I caught Nine Inch Nails in London when they played the Royale Albert Hall and surprise surprise, they covered ‘Parasite’! I’m pretty sure before they played it Trent threw me the winking eye and said “This one’s for you buddy!”
Unfortunately, nobody caught that part on their phones… Shame.
Here’s the 2013 NYC video from someone’s phone, see for your self how great it was.
