Last weekend the Music Expo Boston went underway at The Record Co., a non-profit music incubator on Mass. Ave. in Boston was transformed into an expo with speakers all day talking about various topics regarding music business. While Boston isn’t necessarily known for music business, but when events like this pop up it changes the trend.
There were many interesting speakers, most notably Tool Shed Studios CFO Brian Gibbs, a Berklee College of Music alumnus now based in California. He came to speak about starting your own business in the music industry as well as new technology of 3D audio and visual recording. Electronic Music Production & DJ School Boston Maven co-founder, David Day, the former editor for The Dig Boston, a prominent entertainment publication, had a talk on social media and its impacts on your brand. The Arcitype, hip-hop producer from Boston (also a part of STL GLD) was another speaker who talked about how to work in hip-hop in 2018.
For people wanting hands-on experience, Audio Builders Workshop had a room upstairs to create your own audio speaker compliments of the Exhibitors included IK Multimedia, showing off keyboards, EarthQuaker devices, Yamaha and Sound Girls to name a few. Boston area remixer Venomisto showcased his talent and talked about how computer software Audionamix helps him create remixes. All in all, transforming the already cool space that is The Record Co., for a day to create a place where people can listen, network and learn about the music industry was a huge success.
