Murf Announce Their New Album “Already Dead”

Horror loving hardcore crew, Murf, have broken the news that their next album, Already Dead, is to be released this year. Following two full-lengths and one seven inch, the new record is due out on Learning Curve Records on June 7th, and sees the band “at their darkest, most cynical and apocalyptic.” Head into the article below for more information.

Pre-order Already Dead here.

Already Dead seeks to break the thick walls of PTSD, re-examining the past with more matured eyes yet still standing in awe at the intensity/insanity of life. It addresses surviving a pandemic, living in the city that sparked a worldwide discussion on police brutality, the bitter-sweet feelings of nostalgia with those who are no longer here, and commenting on hyper-commercialism. The LP looks at the warping landscape of social media and the relationship with art, imagining the post-apocalyptic landscape with the current landscape of billionaire characters. Overall this is the band’s darkest, most aggressive and yet celebratory work. They’ve survived more deaths, getting jumped, carjackings, the pandemic and heartbreak. Yet on the other hand, band members have gotten/are looking forward to getting hitched, and are celebrating 7+ years as a band. Despite being their hardest work to date, at the core, there’s always an element of some fun in the morbid chaos– one just needs to be low enough to find the humor in it all.

More from Murf:
Founded in 2014 after the death of Dan Hoffstrom (vocals)’s brother and suicide of his father, he struck up a friendship in Tom, his housemate, resident recording engineer and former founder of South Dakota legends Rifflord. Initially seeking to write a police protest song, they quickly formed a bond around the film Robocop, horror films, WWE wrestling and hardcore music. They then invited Hunter Ness, Jeff Truckenmiller and Evan Clark to round out a full band complete with a fast and furious set for what they thought was one show.  That performance snowballed into seven years of chaotic, cathartic and theatrical experiences involving fake blood, horror movie props, absurd costumes, cult-like audience participation. These feverish performances have earned them a reputation as a live act to not be missed. They have had the privilege of performing with such legends as Daikaiju, Dillinger Four, The Spits, Froggy Fresh, King Khan and The BBQ Show, Marijuana Deathsquads, Sweet JAP, Child Bite, GUSTAF and other legends in the independent circuit.

Murf is:
