Michael Lang, Producer of the “Woodstock” Festival Series, Has Died


According to a published report, Michael Lang, the legendary concert promoter, producer and artistic manager who produced the original Woodstock Music Art Festival, the pinnicle music event of the 1960s in 1969, died Saturday night, January 8th, 2022. He was 77 years old. Lang died of complications from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at Sloan Kettering hospital in New York City, a representative said. Lang also produced many other festivals and concerts including the successful sequel to Woodstock, Woodstock 1994, and its much maligned third edition, Woodstock 1999.He has produced albums for and managed dozens of acts, including Billy Joel, Joe Cocker and Rickie Lee Jones. Lang is survived by wife Tamara and his five children, Shala, Lariann, Molly, Harry and Laszlo. RIP.
