Metallica kicked of their US leg of the “Worldwired” tour, supporting their latest album Hardwired… To Self Destruct (Blackened Recordings). After playing Baltimore and Philadelphia, the band is hitting New Jersey and New York this week. The band also opened a pop up shop for fans this weekend with exclusive merch, rare band mementos from their archives and a “Snake Pit” tickets contest and more.

The Metallica pop up store in New York’s SOHO neighborhood was a unique experience. With music blaring from state of the art speakers from their entire history, and merch from across all eras of the band, it was a lot of fun. In spite of some bad weather in the city, business was fairly brisk. According to some super-fans we spoke with, a lot of the merch from the Pop-up event is exclusive and so far not available at the shows. The New York store is open a few more hours, until 4 PM, before the start of Metallica’ show at Met Life Stadium.
