Magnetic Eye Records (MER Records) founder Mike Viteli has sent out a message reflecting on nice years as a label and thanking the fans for their support. The label recently held a Day of Doom Showcase at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, celebrating the label. Coverage is coming soon for event by Ghost Cult. Check out this message from Mike and all the cool things co,ming up next for the label for the rest of 2019, 2020 and beyond.
When MER was founded on Thanksgiving Day 2010, the goal was to release records from musicians and bands in stunning vinyl configurations to highlight their amazing work. While a lot has changed since 2010, the basics which guide our mission and drive us have not changed at all:
Find and work with the most talented and creative musicians and bands we can find from all over the world.
As much as possible, work with those who have a shared vision with the label and a great personality and attitude.
Build a loyal community of fans and supporters around these musicians and bands while always pushing the boundaries of what an album should look and sound like.
Continue to grow the imprint and always improve and increase our ability to communicate the value of the music, musicianship and our catalog.
There are many examples of us achieving our mission throughout the years. A recent highlight was The Day of Doom label showcase at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn on November 2. This was the first time I met the members of Elephant Tree, Domkraft and Horsehunter in person. It was truly a remarkable time, and I have so much gratitude to all who attended and supported that event, to the 9 phenomenal bands who performed that day as well as to all the bands and artists that comprise MER’s nearly 80-release catalog.
Thank you for 9 amazing years. We look forward to continuing to serve the musicians and music community who make Magnetic Eye Records the worldwide phenomenon it has been and continues to be.
Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving
– Mike Vitali

(Please note that promo codes do not work on the Bandcamp app for some reason that Bandcamp has yet to figure out, so you can only use this sale code on the Desktop version of our Bandcamp store. Fortunately, if you’re sitting in front of your computer, you’ll probably have somewhere to set your plate of food and holiday beverage while you’re shopping.)
This is our way of saying thanks to you for being with us for the past 9 years. A rule of thumb at Magnetic Eye was only putting out music from bands we ourselves would want to join, and that high standard has led us through a pretty colossal run of amazing records during the years.
We’re stoked to still have with us and dedicated in your support of all our incredible bands, and we’re anxious to show off the big stuff we’ll be doing in 2020. You thought MER was in a league of its own already…. just wait and see what’s next.
