“Big Toe” was one of the first songs I ever wrote,” shares Deimer. “It was probably 2019, I was sitting in New Jersey working on my demo outside on a patio, drinking a beer, and I could see the lights of New York City off in the distance. There was a colorful, silvery look to the sky so that’s where the ‘silver moon and ghostly sky’ line came from. As I continued writing, the song morphed. With that feeling of grayness and darkness and the chance of light being there as it gleaned through the gray, silvery sky, I thought about how many people in life have near-death experiences. They almost die, but they don’t. And it gives them a second chance to change their whole life to be a better person and not be so selfish and full of themselves or mean to others. It turned into a song of hope and if you get that second chance, take advantage of it because you can change. It’s never too late to change to become a better person.

“It’s never too late” may just be Kurt Deimer’s life mantra. Everyone has dreams, but not many are bold enough to truly chase them. But Deimer followed his instincts and now, at an age when most people start thinking about slowing down, he’s releasing his debut full-length album. The 17-track versatile collection draws on a wealth of life experience from the Cincinnati, Ohio native, who started his first rock band at age 20 but ended up taking a move conventional route as a young man.

And So It Begins… was produced by five-time GRAMMY-winning producer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Breaking Benjamin) and co-written with Phil X. It includes Deimer’s recent single “Live Or Die,” as well as the previously released singles “Dance,” “Hero” and “Fight.” The album covers a ton of stylistic ground – natural for a musician interested in everything from AC/DC to R.E.M. to Widespread Panic. It bounces from the thunderous hard rock riffs of “Naïve” to the acerbic funk-metal of “Back of The School” to the symphonic grandeur on his cover of the Pink Floyd classic “Have A Cigar,” which masterfully fades into his take on The Doors single “Riders on the Storm” to close out the collection. Elsewhere is a jaw-dropping guest spot from Queensrÿche legend Geoff Tate on the track “Burn Together” and the expressive guitar work of Phil X is heard throughout, adding another layer of sophistication to the diverse range of material on And So It Begins….

More from Kurt Deimer:
In a few short years, Kurt Deimer has made a name for himself in the hard rock scene with his headbanging guitar riffs and socially conscious, anthemic lyrics. His rise in the music industry began when Brian Wheat of Tesla was so impressed by Deimer’s live performance and music while watching him open for the iconic band that Wheat invited Deimer to join Tesla on the road. This opportunity fueled Deimer’s passion to push his music career further, leading to the release of his debut EP, Work Hard, Rock Hard, in late 2021. The acclaimed collection launched the powerful musical partnership of Deimer and Phil X, combining Deimer’s anthemic vocals with Phil X’s thunderous riffs. Deimer has spent the last few years relentlessly touring, sharing the stage with other major acts including Geoff Tate, Drowning Pool, Skid Row, Buckcherry, and Sebastian Bach and just appeared on the Monsters of Rock Cruise. In addition to his growing music career, the multi-talent and successful businessman is a flourishing actor, spearheading his own horror movie franchise Hellbilly Hollow as both star and producer. Deimer’s acting career took off when he appeared in John Carpenter’s 2018 Halloween, portraying a pivotal role alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and facing off against the infamous Michael Myers as the teller. His latest feature film is Scared To Death (2024), written and directed by music video veteran Paul Boyd.

Kurt Deimer’s relentless positivity and unwavering perseverance have propelled him to multifaceted success across the entertainment industry, with his winding journey and hard-hitting rock songs leaving the listener with an overarching message of hope: It’s never too late to make shit happen.
