Led Zepplin released their fifth album House of The Holy (Atlantic Records, Swan Song) on this day 50 years ago, March 28th,1973. Jimmy Page shared his original demo for “The Rain Song” – meant to be the centerpiece of the album in its demo form. Originally titled “Seasons” – Jimmy shared his thought process for the composition with the fans in a post on social media. The album has had some notoriety in the last few years with its album cover being banned on social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram.
On this day, 50 years ago today, Houses of the Holy was released.
‘The Seasons’, later to be titled ‘The Rain Song’ was a memo to myself as a reminder of the sequence of the song and various ideas I’d had for it in its embryonic stage. Listen here:
