“Concerts at Pier 62 were such a vital part of Seattle’s music ecosystem… I have warm memories of attending shows on the waterfront and know many others in our community do as well,” notes The Crocodile’s creative director Hunter Motto. “We’re overjoyed to bring our favorite local, national, and international artists to Pier 62 – it’s a magical and historic place!”
“Seattle has always cherished live music at the waterfront, and Oodalalee adds a new chapter to that tradition,” notes Joy Shigaki, president and CEO of Friends of Waterfront Park. “We’re excited to welcome a new generation of concertgoers to Pier 62—and to remind everyone that Waterfront Park is a place where music, community, and civic life come together at the water’s edge.”
The shows coming to the iconic Pier 62 at Seattle’s recently renovated waterfront will be the first time a summer concert series of this scale will be held there in 20 years. The 2500-capacity space will feature a stage with views of the city’s stunning downtown skyline and mountain ranges as the backdrop. The Oodalalee concert series will kick off on June 1st with a performance from Hermanos Gutiérrez, and will features performances all summer long from Silversun Pickups, Watchhouse (fka Mandolin Orange), Deltron 3030, Cosmo Sheldrake, Blind Pilot & John Craigie, Fruit Bats, Otoboke Beaver, Queer Pier Pride and Gimme Gimme Disco among others to be announced soon.
Oodalalee – Concerts at Pier 62 is the heir to the Summer Nights at The Pier concerts hosted on Pier 62 in the 1990s and early 2000s. The summer series hosted acts including James Brown, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Lauryn Hill, The Roots, David Byrne, Sleater-Kinney, Sinead O’Connor, Indigo Girls and more over the years but ended in 2005 because the deteriorated pier could not safely support crowds. Since then, the 125 year old pier’s wooden supports have been replaced with 175 steel legs, and a floating dock was added alongside the pier. Concertgoers will be able to purchase VIP tickets to the shows for exclusive access to the floating dock during the series.
The renovation of Seattle’s waterfront over the past several years has been a massive, multi-phase redevelopment project aimed at transforming the area into a more pedestrian-friendly, vibrant public space with the goal to reconnect downtown Seattle with the waterfront and create a more inviting metropolitan environment. The multi-billion dollar transformation is the largest civic project in Seattle since the 1962 World’s Fair and ushers in a new era for downtown Seattle. Friends of Waterfront Park, the nonprofit managing and activating the space, brings the waterfront to life through free events, daily amenities, and a commitment to creating a welcoming environment for everyone. As part of its role, Friends also rents out Waterfront Park spaces like Pier 62 to community organizations and event producers to further activate the waterfront for public use.
Both The Crocodile and the Seattle Waterfront are staples of the city, changing with Seattle while honoring its past. After relocating from its home of nearly 30 years, The Crocodile has expanded into a state-of-the-art multi-venue and hotel complex a few blocks north of the old venue. The team from The Croc are excited to bring the same fresh energy brought to the “New Croc” into revitalizing summer concerts at Pier 62.
