Gritty in Pink, a new platform empowering women in music, through performance, partnerships, and networking opportunities, wraps up their Historical Launch Year with a Holiday Special Live Fundraiser for The Sidewalk Project. The women’s centric artist livestream showcase will benefit houseless communities countrywide, tomorrow night, December 15 at 7 pm PST. In January of this year, Gritty began as a monthly concert at The Satellite in Los Angeles, but it was soon adapted to an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the setback, Gritty Rocks Live (GRL) launched virtual tours that featured female artists from cities all across the country, raising thousands of dollars for charities including ACLU and Headcount. The Holiday Special, hosted by Shiragirl and Bodacious Thang, will be a live fundraiser for The Sidewalk Project, benefiting houseless communities across the country.
An electrifying lineup of female artists will be performing in the two-hour long special, including Stacey Dee (Bad Cop Bad Cop), Alicia Vigil (Vigil of War/Dragonforce), and Suvi. The ten artists hail from all over the country, representing cities including New York, Atlanta, Nashville, Portland, and Los Angeles. Stacey Dee is not only a featured artist, but she is the COO and Co-Founder of The Sidewalk Project.
Two of the show’s artists recently released holiday singles: “Angel on a Tree” by Shenna and “Tinsel Wonderland” by Harper Starling. Shenna’s new single is dedicated to all those that were lost during this difficult year, while Starling’s new hit comments on the beauty of Christmastime.
Alicia Vigil of Vigil of War notes, “What Shira has done for the female musician community is absolutely incredible! She has brought together so many amazing people, far and wide, and created lifelong friendships. It’s an honor to be a part of something so special and can’t wait to leave 2020 on a good note like this!”
Returning to their usual Tuesday evening timeslot, the GRL livestream will occur on Instagram live, taking place on December 15, 2020 from 7-9 p.m. PST. Gritty in Pink is thrilled to partner with The Sidewalk Project, to help the homeless during this particularly difficult holiday season. The Sidewalk Project is a female-founded, project-based arts and public health awareness group that works to empower and bring aid to the houseless communities around the world.
Soma Snakeoil, Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Sidewalk Project, says, “The Sidewalk Project is delighted to collaborate with Gritty in Pink because of their vital mission to empower women in music. We are a female-led organization that shares a similar mission to empower houseless communities around the world through various mediums, including art, music, film, and public health. We’re incredibly appreciative of Gritty in Pink’s support!”
