As we previously announced, legendary Progressive Metal band Nevermore will forge a comeback in 2025 with classic lineup members Guitarist Jeff Loomis (ex-Arch Enemy) and drummer Van Williams. However, now another co-founder of the band, bassist Jim Sheppard, has blasted the reunion and claims he has not contacted at all about participating. In a now deleted statement from Jim’s wife, Priscilia (and shared by Metal Injection), Jim blasts the Nevermore reunion as “completely disrespectful.” Priscilia also states that she and Jim are waiting on clarification about the project “and will proceed from there.”
“Since I have been receiving a few messages from James fans regarding a post Van Williams made on social media, I feel I need to respond to you with an update. James has never been contacted about Van’s plans with Jeff using the Nevermore name. I am sorry you think James is involved.
“We do not know about their plans, and it is completely disrespectful of them to use the name Nevermore without consulting Jim Sheppard, as he is one of the founders of the band. We are waiting for clarification on this alleged project and will proceed from there, whether or not clarification comes from them. No further comment for now. Thank you.”
Nevermore ended in 2011 as founding members bassist Jim Sheppard, vocalist Warrel Dane, and guitarist Jeff Loomis alongside drummer Van Williams who joined two years after the band was formed.
Loomis and Williams both shared a one-minute video teaser with Nevermore – imagery and the text “Resurrecting The Dream.” The teaser ends with the Nevermore logo along with the line “A New Chapter Rises” and the year “2025.” Nevermore disbanded in 2011 and vocalist Warrel Dane died in 2017.
