In a post to their social media, Foo Fighters have just announced the passing of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins. He died in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, where the band was scheduled to play at The Estereo Picnic Festival.
The cause of death is not yet been confirmed. He has been a member of the band since 1997 when then drummer William Goldsmith stepped down. Before Foo Fighters, he was the touring drummer for Alanis Morissette. Some of Hawkins’s other projects include Chevy Metal, his cover band jam band, and Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders. He as appeared on albums for Slash (self-titled) and Coheed and Cambria (Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow)
Our condolences to his family and bandmates. More on this, as it develops.
