EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE: Local H Shares “California Songs (Remastered)” from Their New Version of “Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?” Album

Long-running Alt-Rock greats Local H have shared “California Songs” – a remastered version off the reissue of Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles? due out this week via the respected Brutal Panda Records label. Like most of this classic album, the track highlights Local H’s penchant for raucous riffs, clever songwriting, dynamic shifts, and cutting lyrics. Stream the single and watch the visualizer here at Ghost Cult now!

Scott says, ““California Songs” is either…

A.) A scathing Midwestern rebuke to bi-coastal media elitism.

B.) A totally normal, reasonable reaction to an overabundance of music dedicated to the Golden State.

C.) Just another lame-ass song about California.”

Brutal Panda is proud to release the Deluxe 20th Anniversary Reissue of LOCAL H’s cult rock n’ roll classic Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?, remastered from the original recordings and finally available on vinyl for the first time ever.

Physical pre-orders are available now on Deluxe 2xLP/2xLP/CD-Blu Ray Combo/CS/Digital via Brutal Panda Records & G&P Records. The reissue will see an official release date on September 13th.

Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?, LOCAL H’s fifth studio album, was originally released in 2004. The album saw Chicago’s finest rock duo move further away from the mainstream and into cult status (like the album title’s namesake) with the release of their first truly independent full-length. The album contains some of the band’s finest songwriting and spans across various genres, incorporating elements of hard rock, electric blues, acoustic ballads, heavy metal, and high-energy punk. A watershed high-point in a career that is about to enter its 35th year.

Local H frontman Scott Lucas commented on the anniversary + reissue: “I think it’s the best record we ever made. And I’m psyched that it’s finally on vinyl. Hopefully, Riff approves.”

Local H Bio:

Unlike so many of their peers from the 90s, Local H have refused to slow down. Since the band’s formation in 1990, they have released 8 studio albums, countless EPs and live records, a well-received series of “Mix Tapes” featuring a surprising mix of cover songs, and a steady stream of memorable singles that include “Eddie Vedder,” “Hands On The Bible,” “California Songs,” and the rock radio staple “Bound For The Floor.” In addition to all of that, guitarist/vocalist Scott Lucas and drummer Ryan Harding have maintained a near constant international touring schedule — forging a blistering live show that has amassed a loyal and enthusiastic fan base.
