Genre-blending Modern Hip-Hop legend Raheem “Mega Ran” Jarbo has shared a new single and video “The Story of Rap” to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop on Friday, August 11th. Fresh on the heels of hosting his own music festival in Phoenix, and teaming up with Ghost Cult for the premiere; the inventive track is a children’s song, created to teach his son about Rap history. Meanwhile, the clip is a re-telling of the history of the musical genre born in The Bronx, New York, that has dominated pop culture for five decades. The track comes from Mega Ran’s upcoming new full-length album Buddy’s Magic Toy Box, written for his son, and due to drop on September 15th, 2023. Watch the clip here:
Mega Ran comments:
“I love telling stories in my music… and with the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop upon us, what better story to tell than the birth of the music and culture that made me and saved my life? In the video, a young excited child gets to walk through a cardboard rendition of The Bronx, learning about the importance of the DJ, the MC and the B-Boys and Girls.”
