Originally forming in Chicago, while now collaborating between the Windy City and Phoenix, the 4-piece band is led by the multifaceted Ori Kawa himself, mixing rock, jazz, and funk-infused pop.
Consisting of Ori Kawa (Vocals/Keyboard), Oscar Brown Jr. (Guitar), Todd Hill (Bass), and Myron Cherry (Drums), the quartet brings their own unique backgrounds and personal influences, melding together for a truly entertaining musical experience. The Draw 4 EP dances around clever lyrics and engaging melodies, with intricate instrumental riffs that display the high level of musical sophistication each member is working with.
With a deeply diverse approach to making music, listening to the EP is like receiving the wild card in a game of ‘Uno’; when you draw four you never know what combo you’ll get. Drawing inspiration from a multitude of influences, including but not limited to Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Outkast and Cheech and Chong, the four track EP has something for everyone.
Explaining the broad range of sounds on the EP, Kawa explains, “We actually do listen to a lot of different music, so why shouldn’t it be reflected in our tunes? There is so much creative cutting edge stuff out there that makes me pretty sure that everything has already been done; there’s nothing new under the sun. I don’t think we are doing anything new, but we are combining things we like for the fun of it.”
