Doom Metal supergroup (and one that is actually super) Slower will drop their sophomore album this week Rage and Ruin, via the ever-reliable Heavy Psych Sounds label. Formed by Bob Balch (Fu Manchu) on guitar, Amy Tung Barrysmith (Year of the Cobra) on bass and vocals, and Esben Willems (Monolord) on drums, and having partly shed their OG mandate of (only) Doom Metal Slayer covers, the band has returned with a mind-bending blend of dense riffs, explosive solos, killers grooves, and enchanting vocals! And there are still some slayer covers. This will be the top spot on your “smoke a bowl” playlist all winter. Stream Rage and Ruin now at the link below, and order the album in several formats too!

Initially an all-star tribute to Slayer, Slower released their debut album “Slower” (featuring Laura Pleasants of Kylesa, Scott Reeder of Kyuss and Peder Bergstrand of Lowrider) in the winter of 2024, which was hailed as “a real headspinner of an album” by Metal Hammer and “an aural beating of a whole different kind” by Metal Injection. Hot on the heels of this success, their upcoming sophomore album “Rage And Ruin” comprises four original creations and two Slayer covers (“Chemical Warfare” and “Haunting The Chapel”) — all dark, pulverizing and haunting doom wrapped in Amy Tung-Barrysmith’s alluring vocals.
